This night presents you eight exceptional musicians, all of them deeply routed in the improv community.
Starting of with the mind blowing trio of Synthi A virtuoso Thomas Lehn with resourceful pianist Achim Kaufmann and explosive jazz drummer Christian Lillinger a burst of energy will let ausland vibrate.
Foils consisting of saxofonist Frank Paul Schubert and trombone player Matthias Müller present you a constantly moving stream of melting sounds between fragile brass drones and fast lines in the free improv tradition. (Their record, released on the british FMR label, was recorded here at ausland.)
Glue features trumpeter, flügelhornist and composer Tom Arthurs, who travels between large scale commissions for orchestra and beyond, rich and intimate chamber jazz, and highly experimental yet beautiful and intriguing improvised music. The latter he's performing here with Miles Perkin on contrabass and Yorgos Dimitriadis on drums and percussion, both very fine musicians with a strong sense for the lyricism in free improv. Coherence, sophisticated interplay and a highly developed attentiveness for sound qualities guaranteed - just perfect for the closing of the night.
