Maxi Sickert (* 1969 in Berlin) ist als Journalistin für Die Zeit, Der Tagesspiegel und RBB zu den Themen Jazz, Improvisierte Musik und Zeitgenössische Kunst tätig. Ihre Jazzkolumne für Die Zeit war für den Grimme Online Award nominiert. Für die Columbia University, New York, war sie Referentin für das Symposium »Jazz in the Global Imagination: Music, Journalism and Culture«. Die Autorin lebt mit ihrem Mann und drei Kindern in Berlin. Ihr Buch Clarinet Bird. Rolf Kühn - Jazzgespräche ist im Broecking Verlag erschienen und wurde vom Jazzinstitut Darmstadt als bestes deutschsprachiges Jazzbuch des Jahres 2009 genannt. 2012 war Sickert Referentin für die internationale Konferenz »Lost in Diversity – A Transatlantic Dialogue on the Social Relevance of Jazz« am Heidelberg Center for American Studies.

The “European Non-Jazz” theme, with its focus on contemporary life in Paris and Berlin, offers many questions for a potentially controversial debate about the practice of improvised-jazz in Europe.
