"Towards Another Miraculous" von/mit Frank Willens & Maria Scaroni

Eine Arbeit rund um das Nichtproduzieren, das Frank Willens und Maria Scaroni nach tage- und nächtelangem Spazierengehen durch Berlin als ein Stück an den Aussengrenzen oder auf der borderline des Theaters produziert haben. Sie befreien sich von allem sonst oft für theatrale Aufführungen benötigten Ballast, laden Publikum ein und bringen aus dem Nichts ein kollektives Stück auf die Bühne - jedes Mal anders, neuartig und unvorhersehbar. Licht, körperliche Bewegungen, Klang und Sprache, Alltag und Sehnsucht, im Titel die Anspielung auf Bas Jan Ader’s “In Search of the Miraculous” - mehr vorherzusagen, würde an dieser Stelle Willens’ und Scaronis Konzept nicht gerecht. Nach erfolgreichen Umsetzungen - jedesmal per definitionem eine Premiere - unter anderem im HAU, am Theater Freiburg und in Estland ist bei Paradox & Parallels im intimen Raum des auslands another miraculous zu erleben.

Achtung!  Für die Performance am 11.10.15 werden zwei Gäste, Marc Lohr und Dominique Pollet, dabei sein, und machen mit Licht, Klang und Musik zusammen mit Maria und Frank mit.

Biographien:

Frank Willens

Der gebürtige Kalifornier Frank Willens lebt und arbeitet seit 2003 in Berlin. In Amerika arbeitete er unter anderem mit Paul McCartney (Welttourneen), Notre Dame de Paris/Las Vegas, und mit der Gruppe Kunst-Stoff aus San Francisco. In Berlin hat er Projekte von Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods, Laurent Chétouane, Wilhelm Groener, Tino Sehgal u.a. mitentwickelt. Für Tino Seghal leitete er außerdem 2012 bei der documenta (13) das Werk This Variation als auch 2013 bei der Biennale di Venezia das aktuellste Stück, für welches Sehgal mit dem Goldenen Löwen ausgezeichnet wurde. 2008 wurde Frank beim Dortmunder Favoriten Festival mit dem Preis des Besten Darstellers für das Solo "Bildbeschreibung" von Heiner Müller ausgezeichnet, 2011 erhielt er ein Tanzstipendium vom Berliner Senat.

Maria Scaroni

Maria Francesca Scaroni arbeitet(e) als "dance maker"/choreographin mit Jess Curtis "The Symmetry Project", "Vania Rovisco (AADK) The State of Things,” die beide längfristige Engagements, die sich als eine Mischform verstehen sind.  Die Projekten kreuzen Installationen, Live Veranstaltungen und Bühnearbeit in verschiedenen Räume. Maria tänzt in Stücke von Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods, Tino Sehgal und Jeremy Wade. Sie unterrichtet am HZT in Berlin und ist in weitere Trainingsprogramme (P.O.R.C.H. und Smash) involviert. Innerhalb dieser entwickelt sie Methoden, die den Körper als Material betrachten. Darüber hinaus hat Maria einen Abschluss (MA) in moderner italienischer Literatur mit dem Fokus auf Medien und Kommunikation.

PARADOX & PARALLELS (first evening: nowhere) 

"Towards Another Miraculous" from and with Frank Willens & Maria Scaroni

A work based on non-production.  Day and night, Frank Willens and Maria Scaroni walked through Berlin resulting in a piece on the outer boarders of a theater piece or rather, a borderline production.  Freed from what often weighs down a showing, they invite people to take part and from nothingness, they bring a collective piece on the stage or space, simply so.  Every time, the piece will be different – novel and unpredictable.  Light, body movement, sound, language, the everyday and the act of longing are all contributions in a piece mirroring the last performance piece from Bas Jan Ader’s “In Search of the Miraculous” within the title.  More to say would be unjust to the concept.  After successful implementations in HAU, Theater Freiburg and in Estonia – every time a premiere of it’s own so-to-say –  another miraculous is to be experienced in the humble abode of ausland.  

For the occassion in ausland, Marc Lohr and Dominique Pollet will be joining with with select interventions of music, sound and light.

Biographies:

Frank Willens

Originally from California, Frank Willens lives and works in Berlin since 2003.  In the United States, Willens worked with Paul McCartney (World Tour), Notre Dame de Paris/Las Vegas, and with Kunst-Stoff Arts based in San Franscisco, alongside many others.  In Berlin, he has developed and completed projects with Meg Suart/Damaged Goods, Laurent Chétouane, Wilhelm Groener and Tino Sehgal.  At documenta (13) in 2012 and in the following year at the Venice Biennale in 2013, Willens managed the piece This Variation from Sehgal.  In 2008, Willens was awarded the price of best performer as part of the Dortmunder Favoriten Festival (FAV) for the solo piece “Bildbeschreibung” commended by Heiner Müller.  In 2011 he was awarded a dance stipend from the Berlin Senate.

Maria Scaroni

Worked and continues to work as a “dance maker” and choreographer on long-term – hybrid – engagements with Jess Curtis on “The Symmetry Project,” and with Vania Rovisco (AADK) on “The State of Things.”  These projects boarder installation, live events and theater works in various spaces.  Additionally, Scaroni dances with Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods, Tino Sehgal and Jeremy Wade.  She teaches at HZT in Berlin and is involved with additional training courses and programs such as P.O.R.C.H. and Smash.  Within these frames she develops methods of observing the body as material.  Maria Scaroni received an MA in modern Italian literature with a focus on media and communication.
