Lina Allemano

Lina Allemano

Toronto-based trumpeter Lina Allemano, known primarily for her work with her internationally acclaimed free-jazz band, Lina Allemano Four, is quickly emerging as "one of the most exciting new voices of the last few years" [Point of Departure] and was named one of DownBeat Magazine's top innovative trumpeters for the future. "Allemano is especially good at the melodification of thought and sound. Her finely textured improvisations are always intent but casual, as if she were merely picking out notes and phrases that have always been there, waiting to be made audible" [The Globe and Mail]. Lina has performed with notable international improvisers such as Japanese sound-poet Tomomi Adachi, Dutch bassist Wilbert De Joode, Amsterdam-based saxophone/clarinetist Michael Moore, German analog synth player Thomas Lehn, American drummer Tom Rainey, Toronto pianist Marilyn Lerner, and Montreal's Martin Tétreault (turntables), to name a few.
