Sie reanimieren den Grindcore der mittleren und späten 80er Jahre. Carcass, Napalm Death, Fear of God, Terrorizer, Anal Cunt - das waren die großen Namen dieser ultraschnellen, ultrabrutalen Musik. Lang ist's her, aber nichts ist vergessen. Chlorgeschlecht spielen diese Musik auf Computern, beschleunigen sie noch einmal, eigentlich ein Ding der Unmöglichkeit, lassen Merzbow zu einem irren Speedfreak mutieren und übertreffen an Witz und Charme Kid 606 oder den spleenigen Aphex Twin bei weitem. Unyoga
(erstes album von chlorgeschlecht)

The drive for the album Unyoga
arose from the group's living together in Tower Hamlets in London, the
third poorest area of Europe, a fifteen minute walk from Liverpool
Street, one of the richest financial districts of Western Europe. The
sheer anger of the piece was the groups's reaction to this system. In
Chlorgeschlecht's own words, "our way to laugh about its
ridiculousness".

Unyoga
is a half-instinctive piece of work, not limited to any one formal,
prescribed or systematic approach, made with little knowledge of
Max/MSP or sequencers and relying entirely on: voice recordings; the
shades between white noise and nothingness; text and program files
rendered as audio files; samples of the group members' former bands and
largely obscure grindcore bands; radio and television samples; field
recordings of crack houses, gang fights, street kids playing,
struggling illegal immigrants, motorway joggers. Chlorgeschlecht mixed
these environments and musical influences with the stereo editor
application Peak.

BIO

Chlorgeschlecht besteht aus Johannes Malfatti, Olivier Alary und Alex Kloster. Sie gründeten sich 2000 im Londoner "Centre for Sonic Arts", wo Olivier, Alex and Johannes ihre besonderen Talente als Demontierer von Codes in elektronischer Musik, Herumschubser von Einschänkungen und Grenzen, Mischer musikalischer Genres, und Benutzer der mehr leiblichen Aspekte von Performance und Sound Ästhetik. Chlorgeschlecht produzierte Releases und Projekte unter verschiedenen Namen (Transformer, Danzen Jetzt, Ensemble) für verschiedene Labels wie Planet-mu, Rephlex und Klangkrieg. Unyoga wurde 2003 auf dem französchen Label "Deco" herausgebracht.
