TEAQ: Schultze / Ingraham / Rose / Scott

23 Jan 2015 - 20:30

TEAQ - The Electro-Acoustic Quartet
Stefan Schultze – prepared piano
Simon Rose – baritone and alto saxophones
Richard Scott – modular synthesisers
Cole Ingraham – self designed ipad instrument and live coding

Since meeting (at Ausland) in 2012 Schultze and Rose have combined their respective practices in composition and free improvisation in performances in Berlin, Cologne, London and Liverpool.  Together they explore the openness and potential offered by piano preparations and extended saxophone techniques (their  CD: ‘The Ten Thousand Things’ is due in 2015). This concert sees the development of this concept through a full augmentation via electronics with Richard Scott and Cole Ingraham. Scott is a leading figure in the use, and development of modular synthesisers in performance. Cole Ingraham is a composer, performer and programmer who writes software in the course of realising his pieces and has presented his work extensively in the USA and China. Composing in real-time, the electro-acoustic quartet will employ a strategy that allows for the emergence of trios, duos and solos in the course of their performance.

Doors: 8.30 pm
Concert start 9.00 pm
