Das Projekt "The Sound We See" / "Die Sinfonie der Großstadt" begann als weltweites Projekt 2010 in Los Angeles, initiiert vom Echo Park Film Center (Paolo Davanzo und Lisa Marr), einem sehr großherzigen, sozialen und weltweiten Projekt der analogen und wildherzigen Filmliebhaber über alle Ozeane hinweg.
Seit 2010 bereisen Paolo Davanzo und Lisa Marr, selbst finanziert und hier und dort gefördert, Städte der Welt und suchen sich kurzfristig Filmer aus allen Schichten und Altersstufen, um das Gefühl der Stadt, in der diese leben, einzufangen. Wichtig: analog. Super 8 / 16 mm. Die Filme werden zusammen konzipiert, gefilmt und entwickelt. Mit umweltfreundlichen Entwicklern aus Kaffee / Tee / Bier, Vitamin C Pulver und Waschsoda.
In ca. 2 Wochen entstehen so grandiose Unikate, die am Ende mit spontan zusammengefundenen Musikern aus der Umgebung / Freundeskreis zur Premiere live vertont werden.
Es gibt bereits: Los Angeles, Rotterdam, Hanoi, Guwahati, India, Old Crow, Yukon, Canada ...

The Sound We See In Berlin 2015
Growing A Global Slow Film Movement:
Initially developed as part of Echo Park Film Center’s free youth filmmaking program in Los Angeles,
The Sound We See uses analog filmmaking techniques (Super 8 and 16mm) and the “City Symphony” genre practiced in the 1920s by Walter Ruttmann and Dziga Vertov as starting points to explore communal creative process and contemporary environments.
Discovering and redefining techniques of past avant-garde urban documentarians, teens, twens, students, friends, film lovers of any age with little or no prior filmmaking experience
will work with 8 / 16mm cameras and black & white stock to create a stunning 24-hour cinematic journey with each hour of the day represented as one minute on film. Their city.
The films will be developed in eco-friendly soups using coffee, tea, vitamin c powder and washing soda.
The Sound We See is an ongoing cinematic conversation on the relevance of handmade film in the 21st century.
The recent 2 Sound We See projects are being shot in England (March/April 2015) and then Berlin (May 2015)
