Jean-Sébastien Truchy

Jean-Sébastien Truchy plays in Montreal since 1996. He first began in Punk music.
Former member of the now disappeared bands Le Fly Pan Am and Set Fire to Flames, he mainly plays under his own name in solo, but he also is part of the bands Avec le Soleil Sortant de sa Bouche, Souffle, Labios.

Since the year 2000, his approach is defined by a constant evolution in terms of composition and performance. With strong influences from literature and cinema, he questions ways of elaborating, conceiving and orchestrating his new pieces, playing with the reaction caused by his new compositions.

His interest lies in the concepts of alterity and emptiness. In their exploration he creates pieces of music that are defined by the use of electronic instruments and treated vocals resulting in beautifully textured and organized chaos.

He has recently started to create and incorporate videos in his work. They deal with the color of various textures and objects in order to reflect the fluidity and the concept within his music.

He is the artistic direction of Los Discos Enfantasmes together with Bernardino Femminelli and Ricardo Lucchesi since 2010. Los Discos Enfantasmes has received a prize of Best New Label given by Discriminate Music and Foxy Digitalis (Digitalis Industries).

In 2012 he has created with Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe the label Aventures, a subdivision of U.S. label Drag City.
