Isabelle Duthoit und Biliana Voutchkova gründeten ihr Duo im Jahr 2023 und arbeiteten während Biliana Voutchkovas sechsmonatigem Aufenthalt in Paris ausgiebig zusammen. Beide Künstlerinnen sind erfahrene Instrumentalistinnen mit einem ausgeprägten, sehr individuellen Vokabular, das auch ihre Stimmen mit einschließt. Als Duo genießen sie die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten, die sich aus ihrer Zusammenarbeit ergeben und planen die Veröffentlichung eines ersten Albums.
Das Duo Nabelóse übersetzt traditionelle Volksmusik aus ihren Heimatländern – Österreich bzw. Griechenland – in neue, eigenwillige Versionen. Ein rosiger Farbton überdeckt die geisterhafte Blässe der improvisierten Klagelieder. Frostig, tieftraurig, feucht – Nabelóse wandelt auf den Spuren von Seetang und Flechten und verwebt Elemente von Erde und Wasser, die für die Winterkeller gebleicht wurden. Geflüstertes Stöhnen trübt jeden Atemzug, durchtränkt mit lehmigem Schnee. Während das Waldhorn in brachliegenden Feldern blökt, klirrt das Klavier oder krümmt sich in dumpfem Beben. Ingrid Schmoliner und Elena Kakaliagou machen Hirtenmusik, bestäubt mit kalter Asche aus alten Feuern, von Wolldecken unter dem Kinn gekitzelt. (Todd B. Gruel)

Isabelle Duthoit and Biliana Voutchkova formed their duo in 2023, working extensively in Paris during Biliana Voutchkova's six months long residency. Both performers are skilled instrumentalists with developed, highly individual vocabulary including their voice. The duo enjoys the rich potential of this collaboration, planning the release of a debut album.
The Duo Nabelóse repurposes traditional folk music from their native countries – Austria and Greece, respectively. The tone is solemn; a rosy hue spots the ghostlike pallor of its improvised dirges. Frigid, funerary, dank, Nabelóse trails kelp and lichen, weaving elements of earth and water, blanched for winter cellars. Whispered moans cloud with every breath, soaked with loamy snow. While the French horn bleats in fallow fields, the piano plinks or bows in dull quivers. Ingrid Schmoliner and Elena Kakaliagou make pastoral music dusted with cold ash from old fires, tickled beneath the chin with woolen blankets. (Todd B. Gruel)
