Woher rührt die nun schon seit ein paar Jahren anhaltende Popularität der Bass-Klarinette in musikalischen Zirkeln zwischen Wien und Brüssel? Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass ihr Tiefenspektrum eine Alternative zu Übereinkünften der Populären Musik formuliert, wonach "Bass" vor allem für rhythmische Impulse und die räumliche Ausstattung des Untergeschosses reserviert ist. Darauf kann das Spiel der Wiener Bass-Klarinettistin Susanna Gartmayer keinesfalls reduziert werden. Es ist eher so, dass hier das gesamte Universum abgegrast wird: Susanna Gartmayer kann Rhythmus und Drone, erst recht Melodie und Geräusch und oftmals alles zusammen. Wer wäre da ein passenderer Kollaborateur als Stefan Schneider mit seiner minimalistischen Rhythmik und dezenten kosmischen Exploration?
Zusammen bilden Stefan Schneider und Susanna Gartmayer das Projekt SO SNER, das seine Existenz einem Konzert des Approximation Festival in Düsseldorf im Jahr 2015 verdankt. Susanna Gartmayers Bassklarinetten-Polyphonien hatten Stefan Schneider so beeindruckt, dass er schnell eine Zusammenarbeit anregte.

Mit ihrem Hintergrund in Fine Arts erforscht Miki Yui die Grauzonen unserer Wahrnehmung und Fantasie in den Bereichen Musik, Zeichnung, Installation und Performance.
Seit 1999 mit ihrem ersten Album small sounds ist sie für ihren einzigartigen minimalistischen und organischen Ansatz in der Musik bekannt. Vom zarten Rauschen bis zum fernen Summen verwebt sie elektronische Klänge und Field Recordings zu einer Musik mit erzählerischer Spannung. Ihr 7. Soloalbum APERIO wurde 2020 bei Hallow Ground veröffentlicht. Im Jahr 2021 erschien ein Duo-Album mit Asmus Tietchens beim Düsseldorfer Label TAL.

Mo Chan, manchmal auch DJ Kohlrabi und 1/2 Team Pommes, kommt ursprünglich aus der bildenden Kunst, kreuzt Spaß und Depression, Aufbau und Abriss und folgt ihrem Instinkt für Bodenständigkeit. Mo Chan erforscht den Ozean von Stimme ∞ Klang. Mo Chan ist VJ, schwimmt in bunten Bildern und dann ist da noch Aiko Okamoto, die innerhalb dieser Identitäten spielt und visuelle Kunst, Musik, Raum und Menschen zusammenbringt.

Das Konzert ist Teil des Monats der zeitgenössischen Musik Berlin.

Where does the popularity of the bass clarinet in musical circles between Vienna and Brussels, which has lasted for a few years now, come from? Perhaps it is because its low range formulates an alternative to conventions of popular music, according to which "bass" is reserved primarily for rhythmic impulses and the spatial furnishings of the basement. The playing of Viennese bass clarinetist Susanna Gartmayer can by no means be reduced to this. It is rather that the entire universe is grazed here: Susanna Gartmayer can do rhythm and drone, even more so melody and noise, and often everything together. Who would be a more fitting collaborator than Stefan Schneider with his minimalist rhythm and discreet cosmic exploration?
Together, Stefan Schneider and Susanna Gartmayer form the project SO SNER, which owes its existence to a concert at the Approximationen Festival in Düsseldorf in 2015. Susanna Gartmayer's bass clarinet polyphonies had impressed Stefan Schneider so much that he quickly suggested a collaboration.

With her background in fine art, Miki Yui explores the grey zones of our perception and imagination, in the fields of music, drawing, installation and performance.
Since 1999 she is known for her unique minimalistic and organic approach towards music. From a delicate tiny hiss to a distant hum, electronic sounds and field recordings are woven into music with a narrative tension. Her 7th solo album APERIO was released 2020 from Hallow Ground. In 2021 a duo album with Asmus Tietchens was released from Duesseldorfer Label TAL.

Mo Chan, sometimes DJ Kohlrabi and 1/2 Team Pommes, coming from visual art, cruising between fun and depression, construction and ruination, following her instinct for down-to-earthness. Mo Chan is exploring ocean of voice ∞ sound. Mo Chan is VJ, swimming in colourful images. And there is Aiko Okamoto, playing within these identities, bringing visual art, music, space and people together.

The concert takes place as part of the Month of Contemporary Music Berlin (Monat der zeitgenössischen Musik).
